If re-elected, Anne Hidalgo intends to perpetuate the temporary cycle paths

"I hope that these developments can continue." If she is re-elected mayor of Paris on June 28, Anne Hidalgo wishes to perpetuate the temporary cycle paths, designed during the deconfinement in order to unburden public transport and avoid recourse to the car.

While this possibility had already been raised several times by the socialist candidate, it now becomes one of her objectives."If we want to perpetuate, that means that we have to go through votes, procedures, what we will do if I am elected ”she affirmed at the microphone of France Inter this Thursday June 4th.

In fact, the number one barrier gesture for city dwellers, the practice of cycling has exploded since the deconfinement: in Paris, the association Vélos et Territoires recorded an increase of 54% in bicycle trips compared to the same period in 2019.

"These tracks show that they have a utility both in mobility but also in reducing pollution" added the mayor of Paris.

In total, nearly 50 kilometers of cycle paths were created in the capital at the end of the containment, these paths were laid out along the busiest metro lines, namely 1, 4 and 13 .
